SURFBOARDS
PSI Surfboards are made with Eco-Friendly Materials

We use Safe Epoxy Resin:
Polyester resin, that has been used in surfboards for over 60 years, is very toxic if the volatile gases released during cure are inhaled. The generic term polyester to refer to both isothalic and orthothalic polyester as well as the slightly different vinylester. Breathing even relatively small amounts of these fumes can cause permanent brain, kidney, and/or liver damage. Polyester resin can take several weeks before it is fully cured. This means That you or your children may be inhaling fumes during this time.  In fact, it may be dangerous to remain in a store selling polyester surfboards.  If you can smell a polyester surfboard, DON'T!

The Epoxy resin used in PSI surfboards is nontoxic and will not weep any stinking "fiberglass" fumes.  This 100% solids' epoxy resin never had any VOC (volatile organic compounds)! When mixed and fully cured with the non-corrosive activator this epoxy is stronger than low tech polyester resin plus, it is nontoxic.

We Use EPS Foam:
Old technology surfboards utilizing Polyester resin had to use Polyurethane foam which was very toxic.  In fact, the largest US manufacturer was closed down due to issues relating to the toxic nature of their foam surfboard blanks.  The best news, our EPS foam does not release Volatile  Organic Compounds (VOC) into the atmosphere when blown into blanks. Glassed with Epoxy Resin, which is approximately five times the strength of polyester because of it’s molecular bonding, produces a stronger and more durable surfboard that will last many years longer than polyester surfboard.  This keeps surfboards out of landfills where most polyester surfboards end up after a year or two of surfing.  Epoxy / EPS board can last 10 times longer keeping them out of landfills longer and the foam is easily recyclable.
